The Wild Geese Association – Seychelles Mercenary lapel badge, led by Colonel Mike Hoare these armed mercenaries entered the Seychelles disguised as a beer-drinking tourist party, The Ancient Order of Froth-Blowers. Hoare’s objective was to return to power ex-President James Mancham, a pro-Western leader who was deposed by France-Albert Rene in a 1977 coup. Worn on blazer lapels and as a tie pin by the mostly South African and Rhodesian mercs, some of whom had served in the Congo with Hoare, others in the South African Recces and some from the Rhodesian Special Air Service (SAS), Selous Scouts and Rhodesian Light Infantry (RLI)
