South African Navy Free Fall Parachute Instructor wings, Winter Dress, private purchase. The navy did not have a parachute unit, but there were ex-Army paratroopers who transferred to the navy and also some of the SA Navy Divers did parachute courses. The first Officer Commanding the SA Marines was an ex-1 Parachute Battalion PJI. These wings were not supplied by the stores, each qualified paratrooper had to order the wings from a military tailor so many slight variations exist.
