RCAF Station Clinton (later CFB Clinton) was a major military installation located near Clinton, Ontario, famed as the “Home of Radar” in North America.
Top-Secret Origins: The base opened in July 1941 under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP) as RAF Station Clinton (No. 31 Radio School). It was intentionally established in a secluded rural area of Huron County to maintain absolute secrecy over early, highly classified radar technology.
RCAF Handover: The Royal Canadian Air Force took formal command of the base in July 1943, renaming it No. 5 Radio School.
