Dutch Army Multinational Force and Observers arm patch. The Multinational Force and Observers is an international peacekeeping force overseeing the terms of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. The MFO generally operates in and around the Sinai peninsula.
On 22 November 1981, the Dutch government made over 100 service members – Royal Netherlands Marechaussee personnel, signallers and a number of staff officers – available to the MFO.
The MFO had different units. The members of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee were assigned to the Force Military Police Unit (FMPU). The Dutch government initially made 21 members of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee available. More were subsequently made available. The 84 signallers constituted the Force Signal Unit (FSU). The staff officers held positions in different MFO staffs and headquarters.
