Note: Originally established in the 16th Century as the personal Body Guard to Raja Man Singh, the renowned Commander-in-Chief of Akbar’s Army, this unit underwent reorganization in 1932. Under the guidance of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh, it was structured along the lines of the Brigade of Guards and named the “Sawai Man Guards”. During World War 2, the unit actively served in Egypt, Palestine, and Italy. In 1950, the Sawai Man Guards became an integral part of the Indian Army, functioning as the 17th Rajputana Rifles.
