South Africa Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment shoulder title, WW2, worn by the Army, originally, 1939-43, and then the Air Force, 1944-45 when AA command was transferred to the SAAF (South African Artillery / SAA)
South African Air Force Anti-Aircraft Unit shoulder flashes worn by a SAAF Anti-Aircraft Gunners serving with the 1/12 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment in Italy, and in the Monte Cassino area, attached to the 12th South African Motorised Brigade.
1939 – 1943: They operated under the land forces as part of the SA Artillery.
1944 – 1945: Command was transferred to the SAAF, where they served in the Mediterranean and Italian campaigns. The anti-aircraft units remained with the Air Force until they were transferred back to the Army in 1949.
