8033 : 1st Rhodesia Regiment slouch hat

1953 – 1960’s

1st Rhodesia Regiment slouch hat, 57cm, made by Vero & Everitt Ltd. and stamped with the SRG within a triangle, for Southern Rhodesian Government, .303 stripper clip clipped over inside fold of hat to hold it in place, and Rhodesia Regiment black metal badge, Queen’s Crown, mounted over 1 RR flash. Original owner was Private, later Major, Holcroft, see photo of him wearing this hat at the parade for the Queen’s Mother visit to Rhodesia in 1953, arrow above his head. Some mothing to brim and damage to leather sweatband, see photos.
